About this condition

Antibiotics kill normal gut bacteria along with harmful ones, causing diarrhea in many children. This usually starts a few days after starting antibiotics and resolves after completing the course. Probiotics may help prevent this. Rarely, severe antibiotic-associated diarrhea needs medical attention.
