About this condition
Xeroderma pigmentosum is a rare inherited disorder where the body cannot repair damage caused by ultraviolet light from the sun. Children with this condition develop severe sunburns, freckling, and skin changes from minimal sun exposure, with very high risk of skin cancers at young ages.
